In this task, we had to look at the opening of a music video, and then draw the different scenes involved in the opening of a thriller. We had to watch the first 40 seconds of the music video "The Pretender" by Foo Fighters and then draw out each individual shot. Then we had to take photos of our drawings and uploaded them on to the computer. We then had to put them in the order of the song and place the video of the song in the same time as our animatic so that the drawings of the animatic changed to the beat of the Foo Fighters, so that the shot and the drawing changed at the same time.
2. What we learned by doing this.
By doing this, I learned that music videos contain many different shots, and that each of the shots are very important. The first 40 seconds of The Pretender contained around about 19 different shots. I learned how to use adobe premier, which is the new editing software which we will be using for the rest of our editing. Also, i learned that music videos should not contain lengthy shots, for it would be quite boring, which is why there are so many shots in music videos.
3. How is editing a music video different to editing a thriller?
Editing a music video is very different to editing a thriller for a music video contains many different shots to keep the video interesting and keep the audience focused. This means that there is an increased amount of editing needed for a music video, to make sure all the camera shots are short and captivating. Whereas a thriller would have less camera shots, and they would be more spread because the thriller would be telling a longer story for the audience to keep them entertained.
